Teaching Philosophy

My work as a pianist is conceptually built around the idea that music is a gift meant to be shared and to bring people together. I see my career as a way to integrate the joy created by performing collaboratively with the experience gained by understanding music. Music brings people and cultures together in a unique way. I love sharing this, art form with those who have not previously experienced it and I value and delight in the opportunity to teach music to students of all ages, skill levels, and diversities. My goal is to meet you where you are at and help you grow. If you are young beginner or a retiree looking for a hobby, if you are returning to studying music after a long break, or if you are planning to pursue a degree in music, consider yourself a valuable part of my studio. I will choose and modify your study materials as I see fit to best meet your needs and goals. I have a classical background, but I also play by ear and I can coach multiple styles of music including church(contemporary and tradition) music, pop music, musical theater, and chamber or duet music. I hope to work with you soon!
